There are many times in life when things become quite overwhelming, and it appears that you will never be able to escape the difficulties, and it shatters your self-esteem. With a fragile self worth, you cannot move further, and if you do, you lose. But meditation can help you with such thoughts of hopelessness and worthlessness by bringing clarity and do much more.

Meditation is an age-old practice that has helped people align their thoughts and achieve inner peace as it is a balancing practice that requires your full focus. Our consciousness expands as the balance between our subjective (internal) and objective (external) experiences improves, and we begin to manifest all of the benefits of meditation.

When you sit to meditate, close your eyes and concentrate on yourself. This allows you to focus on your own experience rather than outward distractions. A regular meditation practice can help you achieve a healthy balance in your lifestyle. You will expand your consciousness level and be more present at the moment, regardless of what is going on in your life, with increased balance gained via meditation.

What Does “Self-Worth” Mean?

Self-esteem is crucial — we hear it all the time, and we may believe it, but that does not mean it’s simple to achieve. When we strive to believe in ourselves, we can experience dark clouds of uncertainty or even self-loathing. Sure, you can act confident, but what is the secret to developing genuine self-esteem?

Self-esteem refers to how we feel about ourselves and how much we regard ourselves. A fragile sense of self is one that changes from day to day, or even from moment to moment. It is influenced by happy and bad experiences that are either externally delivered (for example, when a coworker compliments or belittles us) or internally generated (for example, when we reflect on our performance after a presentation). A stable sense of self, on the other hand, will rarely, if ever, change, and that is the real self-worth.

So, how can meditation help you with self worth?

Meditation and Self-Worth

Self-awareness is required for true self-worth to be established, and the level of self-awareness allows you to gain a deep understanding of your strengths and weaknesses.

The ability to just observe without passing judgment is a key component of meditation. You are not attempting to avoid something, and you are not trying to force something to happen. You are just taking note of what’s going on around you.

When you meditate, your mind is bombarded with all kinds of thoughts. Perhaps it’s that embarrassing incident you keep replaying in your head, a reaction to being unfairly judged, or some past trauma. However, meditation will help you reflect upon it and let go of these unwanted thoughts. No matter what is going on in your head, you must return your focus to your meditative state.

Meditation Reintroduces You to Yourself

What occurs is that you gradually, organically, begin to remove yourself from the story that your thoughts are telling you. The emotional thinking process does not appear as sticky and genuine; it is less likely to take control of you, monopolize your attention, and damage your self-confidence. You may let go of the tensions associated with the storyline when you relax and let go of the things in your past. This results in a strong sense of happiness.

You grow more and more invested in that moment of well-being as your meditation becomes more consistent. You are just there at that moment of happiness. There isn’t a point of comparison. It isn’t excellent, bad, or indifferent in the least. It’s simply existing, and it’s quite relaxing. Genuine confidence comes from a sense of being. It comes from being able to relax and rest in a natural state of mind without having to worry about all of the external reference points or the self-doubting thoughts that they can trigger.

It also makes you aware of everyone’s imperfectness, giving you the feeling that you are not alone. Rather, you are a part of this amazing world, and the more you extend yourself with love, the less you will be concerned with your own limitations. When you discover your interconnection, you move from a self-centered to an other-centered state.

It Leads To Kindness and Love

As you practice self-acceptance and loving-kindness, you may discover a deeper notion that you don’t deserve to be happy, that you don’t believe you are good enough—a type of self-destructive mechanism. But by welcoming kindness into that self-negation and low self-esteem, the uncertainty dissolves in love with time.

To be clear, genuine self-worth has nothing to do with being better or worse than other people. By destroying others, we don’t establish our own authentic self-worth. That can never help you or anyone in terms of realizing self-worth. This underlying goodness is within everyone, and everyone has the ability to connect with it.

As a result, rather than burdening others with negativity, jealousy, and competitiveness, we may instead radiate openness, acceptance, honesty, joy, and kindness, among other beneficial characteristics. Don’t you think it’s a lot better approach to interact with others in the world? And it all starts with meditation: finding a basic sense of well-being and discovering genuine happiness.

Meditation can help in the development of self-confidence in this way. It may come as a surprise to you, but if you want to increase self-confidence, one of the key things you must focus on is self-awareness, and meditation is one of the surefire ways to boost your self-awareness.

So, how to practice meditation for self awareness?

The Meditation Process

The meditation process not only helps you reflect on your everyday thoughts, which simultaneously boosts your self-worth but much more than that. Read further to dive further into the meditation process.

  • First, choose a comfortable spot where you can sit for at least 15 minutes without being distracted. Wear a comfortable, loose-fitting outfit while you are at it.
  • Sit cross-legged on the floor or in a comfortable straight-backed chair. If you are slumping, sit with your back against a wall. If you are in the woods, you might want to try sitting with your back against a tree. The trick is to maintain a straight spine, which allows your Qi or Chi (meaning: vital life force) to flow more freely. More than anything, you must be comfortable; otherwise, your body’s aches and pains may distract you.
  • Close your eyes and concentrate on yourself. Being in the moment is all that meditation is based on. It is fine to write down items that can distract you and empty your mind if you find yourself thinking of them.
  • You can focus your attention on your breathing. Affirmations (a positive statement about yourself or life) should be repeated to help you reflect on yourself. If you focus on feeling what the affirmation means to you, you can utilize it to boost your self-worth. You can concentrate on the music using High-Tech Meditation. Pay attention to every single note. Return your focus to the music if you find yourself not paying attention. You can also use any other method that you are comfortable with.
  • If you observe your mind pondering, return your attention to the practice by reminding yourself of the benefits, it will bring you.
  • It’s a good idea to give yourself a few minutes after you have finished your meditation session to ease back into your daily activities while simultaneously keeping your newfound sense of calm.

The Results?

As a result of meditation, you will automatically become less involved with those inner voices that spew negative self-talk. Gradually, you will find that your inner self-critic quiets down and eventually disappears.

You get to experience each moment with a fuller knowledge of your actual spirit in the freedom of that quiet, and you get to realize, like a rosebud opening, that you are valued simply as you are – not because of anything you do. Gradually, and before you realize it, your self-worth emerges, and you find yourself feeling more open, fearless, and eager to take the larger leaps.

Meditation detangles your sense of self or true essence from failure and erroneous judgments of your own inadequacy, eliminating doubts.

Reminder: Remember to be kind to yourself through the process and later. It is okay to take a chance to breathe and tell yourself that you can always start again tomorrow. Most of all, do not forget that there are people out there who love you unconditionally through anything and everything.
